Today we lay a man to rest Another one, amongst the best One of us so proud and true One of us who wears the blue Now here we stand the deep blue line The anguish is clear in all our eyes Here to pay a silent tribute The deep blue line snaps a final salute Though hard to bear, we carry on The gun we'll wear, the shield we'll don We'll persue this thankless job we do Those of us who wear the blue And as we stand, our heart's will tremble For we know this line will again assemble To bid farewell to another who Has fallen in a suit of blue.
